Outlook for Birmingham

I have tremendous optimism for Birmingham! We can continue to thrive as a highly desirable place to live, work and play Ð but we must understand the financial realities of our residents as we balance their needs with our budget. We must make sure we can pay for what we are creating today with the tax dollars of tomorrow. We must also innovate in how we attract and retain our local businesses. As the lifeblood of our community, their success is critical to ours Ð it is what makes us such a walkable and standout community. Seeing all the empty retail and office space is disheartening and a grave concern to me. Creative solutions are necessary to maintain and grow our business base. We all want to see our community thrive and grow.

Education

Mr. Meyer has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech and a
Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of New Orleans.

Attract Commerce. Encourage new businesses to locate in Birmingham. The lifeblood of our town is the diverse set of businesses that make Birmingham such an attractive location to visit, work and live. Having actively worked with entrepreneurs, and being one myself, I will seek out creative and innovative ways to attract and retain businesses.
